Weight loss surgery is major surgery. Its growing use to treat morbid obesity is the result of three factors: Our current knowledge of the significant health risks of morbid obesity; the relatively low risk and complications of the procedures versus not having surgery; and the ineffectiveness of current non-surgical approaches to produce sustained weight loss. This site will provide valuable information about the benefits and risks of weight loss surgery. However, the best way to get a full assessment of your condition is to schedule a consultation to determine if weight loss surgery may be an option for you. The North Carolina Surgical Weight Loss Center at Village Surgical Associates is pleased to offer this service to our community. We offer a educational forum each month at the Village Drive Education Complex. To reserve a seat please call the number below. We ask each patient to attend our seminar prior to their initial consultation. We also offer a support group the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in our office. We look forward to helping you with your health needs. We are now offering Lap Band as an alternative to Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass.
